Brief
History
In 1998 three Germans and six Bangladeshis
came together and formed the Bangladesh
German Business Forum of which Mr. Syed J.
Haider Managing Director of Broadways
Chapman Ltd. was its founder chairman. For
the first time this group advocated to
promote German-Bangladesh business
relationship.
In 2003 the Forum was transformed into the
formal Bangladesh German Chamber of Commerce
and Industry (BGCCI) with Dr. Peter Albrich,
Managing Director and CEO of Siemens
Bangladesh as its first president.
Ever since, BGCCI is growing in members and
profile, establishing an executive office
wing.
About
us
BGCCI is registered as a company limited by
guarantee and registered under section 28 of
the companies act, 1994 in Bangladesh.
According to the articles of the association
any profit occurred shall be applied in
promoting the objectives of the association
and no dividend shall be paid to the
members.
An eleven member Executive Committee is
responsible for directing its business while
a secretariat is acting to implement its
directives.
Objectives
Its broad objectives are
• To promote economic co-operation between
Germany and Bangladesh, particularly in the
private sector
• To stimulate greater understanding between
these two countries in the field of trade,
commerce, industry and other economic
activities
• To provide facilities, information and
advice regarding economic transactions
between Germany and Bangladesh
The 10 fields of activity
1. to collect and disseminate knowledge and
information
2. to arrange lectures, seminars,
discussions and conferences on economic
activities of Bangladesh and Germany
3. to establish and maintain contact with
German and Bangladeshi scholars in trade,
industry and commerce
4. to facilitate exchange visits and
business trips
5. to facilitate German investment in
Bangladesh
6. to act as a focal point in networking
between entrepreneurs in Bangladesh and
Germany
7. to help resolve disputes arising out of
business transactions between Bangladesh and
Germany
8. to liaise with the Embassy of the Federal
Republic of Germany in Bangladesh and the
Bangladesh Embassy in Germany.

products
10. to organize or promote trade fairs and
exhibitions
